Recognizing 35 Years of the ADA!

Posted under Eye Health, Living With Low Vision, Low Vision Info

This year marks a significant milestone, the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)!

Celebrate 35 years of ADA

Signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush, the ADA was a monumental step toward ending discrimination against people with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunities in all areas of public life. It laid the foundation for an inclusive society, requiring buildings to be accessible, public transit to accommodate mobility needs, and employers to provide reasonable accommodations.

Over the past 35 years, we’ve witnessed major strides in accessibility—from curb cuts and captioned videos to screen reader-compatible websites and workplace diversity initiatives. These changes not only benefit people with disabilities but also contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society for everyone.

The Ongoing Journey of Inclusion

While we celebrate the ADA’s legacy, we also recognize that the journey toward full inclusion is far from over. Many individuals still face barriers—physical, technological, and systemic—that prevent them from participating fully in everyday life. At Enhanced Vision, we’re committed to supporting ADA’s mission of inclusivity by developing innovative assistive technology to help people remain independent.
