In the article there is a link to the Patient Information Booklet. There is a phone number in there. I would start by contacting VisionCare at 408-872-9393. Best of luck!

My father qualifies ~ he's 78.
Thank you,

Is it true that one cannot have this proceduew done if she or he has had cataract surgery? Most older folks have already had cataract surgery. Please keep us updated if there is ever a change.
My Dad is 97, in very good health, has all other faculties, but cannot see. He uses a machine as well as special glasses for the largest TV made. Time is not on his side.

Gilbert, I am sorry to hear about your wife's condition. I am not an expert on the subject, but I will do my best to continue reporting low vision innovations and macular degeneration breakthroughs as I find them. The original In-Eye Telescope article can be found here: http://www.empowher.com/adult-macular-degeneration/content/fda-approves-eye-telescope-macular-degeneration.
Thank You

My wife is 82 years old and has macular degeneration in both eyes. She has been diagnosed as leagally blind. I have been looking into possible treatments like stem cell treatment and the Sante Fe Protocol. For stem cell treatment a person has to go to Germany. And the other takes a week in Sante Fe, NM.

This telescope implant it the first thing I've seen that is FDA approved.

We live in Sacramento, CA and are interested it finding out more about the telescope implant procedure.

We were so excited - Mom is 81 and legally blind from macular degeneration. However it states no prior cataract surgery. That will disqualify Mom and thousands of others. Hope the criteria is incorrect.

This is fantastic news, especially for those of us who have the dry form of AMD. Over the last few years there have been treatments developed for the wet type, but until now, nothing for the dry.

My initial excitement over this implant was a little dampened when I found out that I probably will not qualify because I am not 75 yet. But, we have to remember. This is just the first step.

I have been following clinicaltrials.gov for a long time. When I initially started, there were only a few (maybe 8 or 9) clinical trials dealing directly with the dry form.. Now there are almost 40. So, I am thrilled for those of you who qualify for this procedure. For those of us who don’t – don’t get discouraged. Our solution is just around the corner.
